Vermont
Vermont is a state in the northeastern United States, in the New England region. It has the second smallest population of any state (after Rhode Island).
The capital of Vermont is Montpelier, but the largest city in the state is Burlington with a population of just under 40,000. There are also about a dozen other reasonably large towns and cities in Vermont.
The climate in Vermont is best described as humid but continental; it features warm, humid summers and cold winters. In the more northern parts of the state, the winters can be exceptionally cold, and as a result, skiing in Vermont, is a very popular activity. The changing of the seasons in Vermont, is also remarkable. In spring, there is so the so-called "mud season". In the fall, there is an explosion of color as the leaves, especially those of the widespread sugar maple trees, turn red, gold and brown.
As already mentioned, Vermont is justifiably famous for skiing, but there are also other events, tourist attractions and places of interest in Vermont too. One of the most interest of these is the Vermont Mozart Festival, which is annual event, held at multiple venues around the state. Vermont is also noted for being the state where prophet and first President of The Church of Latter-day Saints ("Mormons"), Joseph Smith, was born. Smith's birth is commemorated by the Joseph Smith Birthplace Monument, which is in Royalton.
